Fostering State and City Level Support for Climate Innovation

About this event
In an environment where federal funding for climate work is significantly reduced, it is becoming more important for the public sector to lead the way in climate action and innovation. By investing in climate innovation, cities and states have a tremendous opportunity to build clean, reliable, energy sources and technologies to expand affordability and help meet rising energy demand. Three states in particular, California, New York, and Massachusetts, have already been leading on this issue for many years, investing in the innovation ecosystems that create the needed technologies and companies. Cities have also stepped up to invite more of these innovative technologies and companies into city operations to improve quality of life and affordability for residents while reducing emissions. This NCCEI convening at BATWorks during Climate Week NYC will bring together leading advanced energy incubators from across the country, city representatives from LA and NYC as well as leaders from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) to share successes to date in NY, CA, and MA, with leaders from cities in states across the country to show the public sector can emulate proven models of success.
