Clean Mobility in Affordable Housing: Learnings from a Community Pilot

Transportation is one of the biggest barriers to opportunity for residents in affordable housing, and there are multiple avenues to begin addressing it. This session introduces the Clean Mobility Project: a multi-modal transportation equity program piloted at BCIHS Buildings 19 and 20 that combines fully-subsidized public transit, a shared electric vehicle, and community education and capacity building.

Participants will learn how the project started, its objectives, the partnership ecosystem, and the planning considerations. The session covers site selection criteria, infrastructure requirements, resourcing, and insights from addressing the various challenges faced in the project. Housing managers will leave with a clear understanding of what clean mobility programming is and reflect on its application to their buildings.

Who should attend: The session is designed as a peer-informed knowledge-sharing forum for housing managers, building operators, and community housing providers interested in exploring transportation supports, and improving transportation affordability and accessibility for residents. Also open to individuals wishing to reflect on their community’s transportation needs and solutions. All are welcome!
