UNEP at the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly

The high-level General Debate will take place from 22 -26 September and conclude on 28 September 2026.The SDG Moment on 18 September 2026, will showcase impactful action and leadership in support of the Sustainable Development Goals. As an important milestone on the road to the 2027 SDG Summit, this year’s SDG Moment will spotlight transformative initiatives from around the world and highlight how inclusive and equitable transitions are driving progress despite an increasingly complex global landscape.The UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit 2026 will be convened from 22 - 23 September during the UNGA high-level week. The summit will gather leaders from business, government, civil society, UN officials and the wider sustainable development community to provide an opportunity to assess how the private sector is contributing to the achievement of the SDGs and to explore ways to strengthen collective action and partnerships.Against the backdrop of escalating climate impacts worldwide, the UN Secretary-General will convene the Climate Summit on 23 September. At this critical moment for the planet, the summit will gather world leaders to evaluate progress and chart an ambitious course of collective action to accelerate the energy transition, bolster energy security, advance climate justice, and protect vulnerable communities from the worsening impacts of the climate crisis.
