Science for a Sustainable Future 2026 - From Research to Action: Science, Policy, and Innovation for Ending Deforestation
About this event
A webinar in the Science for a Sustainable Future series, a joint initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and Springer Nature. This edition focuses on deforestation and is timed alongside the UN Biodiversity Conference (CBD COP17) in Yerevan, Armenia, bringing together researchers and practitioners from diverse disciplines.
Panellists examine the current state of deforestation and how locally grounded research and community-led knowledge can inform policy responses, including in the Amazon. Approaches under discussion include innovative financial mechanisms such as the Tropical Forests Forever Facility, legal and governance frameworks, advances in data and monitoring, and leadership from Indigenous Peoples and youth in forest conservation.
