Decarb Lunch: Embodied Carbon Savings in Part 3 & Part 9 Buildings
About this event
This Decarb Lunch webinar from ZEBx looks at how two BC projects moved from embodied carbon targets to real reductions. Both were recognized in the 2026 CLF BC Embodied Carbon Awards: UBC's Anthropology and Sociology Building in the Large Buildings category and Maverick in the Small Buildings category.
Speakers from Perkins&Will and CarbonWise walk through the strategies behind each project, from UBC's retention-first approach, which preserved 77% of the eligible existing structure and envelope, to Maverick's use of reclaimed materials, early carbon targets and whole-building life cycle assessment (LCA). The session covers what worked, what was challenging and how the approaches can apply to future projects. It is hosted by Stephanie Dalo, CLF BC Program Manager at ZEIC, and is free thanks to support from BC Hydro and the City of Vancouver.
