British Columbia Event Waste Reduction Roundtable

About this event

A virtual roundtable for the people who plan and run British Columbia's large public events, from music and food festivals to agricultural fairs, marathons, Canada Day celebrations, and night markets. Hosted by the Coast Waste Management Association (CWMA), it is a first step toward a peer network where event directors, site and operations managers, vendor coordinators, volunteer leads, and green-team leads can compare notes on managing and diverting event waste.

The 90-minute session on Zoom opens with a short presentation, then moves into a facilitated roundtable in which participants give brief updates on their own work. Topics include vendor packaging rules, waste station design and signage, volunteer training, compost and recycling hauling, and reusable cup and dishware systems. The group will also decide what kind of ongoing forum it should become. Event-greening contractors and service providers are welcome, and attending just to listen is encouraged.
