Beyond Equipment Ratings: Modelling Hybrid Heat in Homes

An online webinar from the Canadian Association of Consulting Energy Advisors (CACEA) introduces a new BC-developed Average Annual Efficiency Calculator, a tool that models the seasonal performance of common heating retrofit scenarios in a typical single detached home. It is aimed at energy advisors and others making hybrid heating recommendations.

The session looks at how heat pump system sizing, climate zone and switchover temperature affect coefficient of performance (COP), energy use and emissions, and how the tool can support retrofit recommendations and client conversations. The calculator came out of a collaboration between the City of Vancouver, Musqueam Indian Band, Township of Langley, City of Nanaimo and TECA, with funding from BC Hydro. Registration is free for CACEA members and counts for one CEC.
