1908 to Net Zero: Heritage Reconstruction and Near Zero Density Bonuses under the VBBL
About this event
A site tour and project presentation from the Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) on the "1908 to Net Zero" project by Deep Green Developments, a heritage reconstruction that turned a Vancouver character home into a three-dwelling, net-zero building. It is aimed at builders and design teams taking on heritage retrofits and densification under the Vancouver Building By-law (VBBL).
Architect Peter Smith of Smithcraft Architecture, energy advisor Barb Silverthorn of Capture Energy and Todd Best of Best Builders explain how the project used the City of Vancouver's Zero Emission Building FSR exclusion and an Integrated Design Process, and how it handled airtightness, thermal performance, electrified mechanical systems and embodied carbon. The one-hour presentation is followed by a guided tour with light refreshments and networking. HAVAN's E&T Committee and Women's Council present the session, which is listed for 1 CPD credit.
